The Mahindra KUV100 Is South Africa’s Cheapest Car
The Mahindra KUV100 has become a popular choice in South Africa and it’s no surprise considering the incredible value for money. It has a bold, SUV-type stance, good looks and great fuel economy at a very attractive price, starting at just R154 999. If you’re looking for a quality brand new car on a budget, the Mahindra KUV100 is the most affordable option.
Recap On The Mahindra KUV100 Specifications
The Mahindra KUV100 offers a lot of bang for your buck with loads of tech features, comfort, convenience and safety. Mahindra is one of very few carmakers in the budget segment that is offering a comprehensive warranty with various service plan upgrades. Only the entry-level Mahindra KUV100 NXT K2+ doesn’t have a standard service plan but it can be added as an optional extra.
In terms of equipment, the KUV100 gets electronic climate control, remote keyless entry, follow-me-home headlamps, electric power steering and ESS (Engine Start-Stop) to boost fuel efficiency even further. The body is a robust monocoque made from ultra-high-strength steel to provide superior safety with dual front airbags, ABS as standard, immobiliser, automatic door locks and ISOfix rear child seat mounts.
For the price, the Mahindra KUV100 offers a generous amount of space with its 243-litre boot which increases to 473 litres when the floor is flat. They’ve also added under-floor and under-seat storage for anything from shoes and clothes to phone chargers and other accessories. You also get a cooled glove box to keep the drinks flowing on those weekend getaways.
Compared to other cars in the segment, the interior could do with an upgrade but considering the price tag, it’s something you can easily overlook. While the KUV100 does not follow traditional styling, the exterior is still impressive with an imposing front grille and unique wraparound headlamps.
Fuel Economy And Ruggedness
It’s not every day you get a robust, fuel-efficient and inexpensive car which makes the Mahindra KUV100 truly remarkable. Considering it’s built to withstand the road and weather conditions in India, the car is perfectly suited for our local market. If you look at fuel economy, the proof is in the pudding which comes courtesy of the 2020 AA-Kinsey Report.
According to the Kinsey Report, the Mahindra KUV100 is one of the most affordable compact SUVs to repair and service. Fuel economy is incredible, especially the diesel version averaging just 5.2 litres per 100 km. It offers exceptional affordability through a competitive pricing structure while offering the lowest cost of ownership.
“The KUV100 NXT competes in a very important segment of the market. The KUV offers true affordability by being competitively priced and offering the lowest cost of ownership. We are very proud of this status and of the hard work we put in to improve our value chain and operating costs to be able to offer parts and components at such a low cost” said Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
It seems very few cars can compete with the Mahindra KUV100 in terms of affordability and features. For the price, you get a lot of car and a well-built one at that. For more updates on local and international motoring news, read our blog or to receive special offers and announcements.
