Mahindra Sales Tops Growth Charts in South Africa

The team at Group1 Mahindra is proud to announce that NAAMSA, the most credible thought leader in the South African automotive industry, has revealed that Mahindra was the fastest-growing auto brand in RSA in 2022. According to the report, cumulative sales of over 75 000 units in 18 years put the Indian automaker at the top of the local ranks.

Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa, was quoted as saying that the brand’s success can be attributed to its entire network, which we are very proud to be a part of. This accolade is made even more significant when taking into consideration that the entire supply chain was still under pressure in the post-COVID space, with assembly plants having to navigate component shortages, and dealerships waiting with growing lists of waiting for motorists.

Let’s look at a few stats about Mahindra sales in South Africa in 2022:

  • Sales volume increased by 78% as compared to 2021

  • Passenger vehicle sales grew by 80% to 4027 vehicles

  • Light commercial vehicle sales grew 77% to 8885 vehicles

  • Monthly sales averages stood at 1000+ units

  • The 10 000 units/year mark was reached for the first time

  • Almost 14 000 units were sold throughout the year

Cue the sparkles and confetti! We’ve always known that it was only a matter of time until this day would come. How so? Well, here are a few reasons why Mahindra is exceptionally popular with the South African motoring public:
