As Mahindra marks two decades of rugged reliability in South Africa, the company is shifting gears with a bold new offering. The highly anticipated Scorpio-N Adventure Edition has officially broken cover. Built on the bones of the popular Z8 trim, this special edition isn’t just a celebration — it’s a declaration of Mahindra’s intent to redefine the 7-seat off-road vehicle segment.

The Scorpio-N has been a key offering in Mahindra’s lineup. With the Adventure Edition, Mahindra is doubling down on its commitment to cater to the adventurous spirit of its customers, equipping the SUV with an impressive array of off-road features.

Enhanced Off-Road Capabilities

The Scorpio-N Adventure Edition sets itself apart with significant upgrades designed for conquering rugged terrains. Gone are the regular bumpers, replaced by robust steel versions at both front and rear. These new bumpers not only enhance the vehicle’s approach and departure angles but also integrate recovery points for added utility in challenging situations.

Underneath, the Adventure Edition boasts metal skid and belly plates, providing crucial protection against hard impacts during off-road excursions. The SUV stands taller thanks to a raised suspension setup, offering improved ground clearance for tackling obstacles with confidence.

Tyre upgrades further bolster the Adventure Edition’s off-road prowess. Mahindra has swapped out the standard Z8’s 255/60 R18 road tyres for more capable 265/60 R18 all-terrain tyres, paired with custom 18-inch alloy wheels. A roof rack adds extra storage capacity for those long trips into the wilderness, while subtle “Adventure” badging sets this special edition apart from its standard siblings.

Powerful Performance And Tech

Under the hood, the Adventure Edition retains the capable 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine found in the standard Scorpio-N lineup. Paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, it delivers an impressive 129kW of power and 400Nm of torque, ensuring the SUV has plenty of grunt for both on-road cruising and off-road challenges.

The Scorpio-N Adventure Edition comes equipped with a range of technologies to enhance its off-road prowess. The selectable 4Xplor four-wheel-drive system offers rear-wheel-drive, four-wheel-high, and four-wheel-low settings to tackle various terrains. Multiple drive modes, including Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Rut, and Sand, allow drivers to optimise the vehicle’s performance for specific conditions.

For serious off-roading, the Adventure Edition features both a mechanical rear-locking differential and an electronic brake-locking differential. Hill hold and hill descent control round out the package, providing drivers with confidence on steep inclines and declines.

This premium offering comes with Mahindra’s commitment to quality, backed by a 5-year/150,000km warranty and a 5-year/110,000km service plan.

Difference In Adventure Models

The Z4 4×2 AT and Z8 4×4 AT represent this SUV lineup‘s base and mid-range options, with significant differences in capabilities and features. The Z4 4×2 AT is a two-wheel drive model with basic safety features, front airbags, and rear parking sensors. It comes with an 8″ touchscreen infotainment system, steel wheels with covers, and a silver front grille. This model is slightly shorter in height and focuses on providing essential SUV features for on-road use.

In contrast, the Z8 4×4 AT offers a more robust package with four-wheel drive capabilities. It includes advanced safety features like Hill Hold Control and Driver Drowsiness Detection, along with front, side, and curtain airbags. The Z8 4×4 AT boasts improved aesthetics with a chrome front grille, LED projector headlamps, and alloy wheels. It also features the 4XPLOR Intelligent 4×4 System with selectable terrain modes, making it more suitable for off-road adventures. While both models share the same engine specifications, the Z8 4×4 AT provides a more premium and capable driving experience overall.
