New Mahindra Thar and XUV300 Revealed

Industry spies have revealed that Mahindra is not only launching a new five-door Thar, but the word on the street is that the XUV300 is also getting a facelift! Here’s what we know has been leaked about the new Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300.

Key Components Of The New Mahindra Thar

Close in stature to the Jeep, Mahindra has clearly benefitted from its well-established relationship with Jeep, dating back to 1945. The latest version of the Mahindra Thar is an affordable and tough all-terrain vehicle, that is perfect for South African roads. And now it seems the legendary 4WD is getting an upgrade.

Spies have confirmed that they saw a sunroof on the new Thar, making this RV even more of an exciting ride. New box-shaped taillights with LED brake lights and rear parking lights are also causing a stir. The new SUV’s design does remain close to the three-door version, but the interior will potentially see an upgrade, boasting an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, so you can have the best of both worlds.

Mahindra is likely to keep the same 2-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines on the Thar, according to sources.

The New Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

The refined Mahindra XUV300 is well known for its 5-star safety rating, which earned it the ‘safest car in Africa’ accolade. This SUV is more of a comfortable lifestyle vehicle compared to the rugged Thar. Mahindra has apparently been testing a new sub-compact SUV which could be the facelifted version of the already gorgeous Mahindra XUV300.

The XUV300 is expected to get a redesigned front fascia with a new grille, headlights, bonnet, and bumper. It could also get a connected LED light bar in the front and a C-shaped LED DRL. A new set of revamped alloy wheels will also be added to the facelift, along with redesigned taillights. The interior of the XUV300 should get an upgrade too with the dashboard layout changing and Mahindra adding features like a bigger infotainment system, an all-digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera!

There are no details about the powertrains and specs of the XUV300 facelift, but the engines of the 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel are likely to remain the same.

According to sources, it seems both vehicles will most likely be released in 2024, but there are no dates as yet for a South African launch.
