XUV 3XO

The XUV 3XO is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include: adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, smart pilot assist, high beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. These features are also supported by additional safety elements like a 360º surround view camera system, an automatic dimming rear view mirror, and blind spot monitoring. These are primarily available on the higher “Luxury” variants like the AX5L and AX7L.

All derivatives of the Mahindra XUV 3XO are offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mStallion TCMPFi engine producing 82 kW and 200 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AISIN torque-converter automatic, renowned for its durability and reliability. The SUV also features first-in-segment three smart steering modes, Comfort, Normal, and Sport, and drive modes Zip, Zap, and Zoom for tailored driving dynamics.

The 3XO’s interior build quality is good, and reflects a clear step up in refinement and technology. All models feature soft-touch finishes, ample storage, steering wheel controls, and rear air conditioning vents. Higher trims add dual 10.25-inch HD displays for infotainment and instruments, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging with 65 W USB-C fast charge, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, leatherette upholstery, a cooled glove compartment, and a Harman Kardon audio system.

The XUV 3XO comfortably accommodates five passengers thanks to its 2,600 mm wheelbase. Additionally, it delivers best-in-class legroom and hip room in the first and second rows, providing exceptional comfort for every passenger. Boot space is 364 litres, and the 60:40 split-folding rear seats increase cargo versatility.

While the XUV 3XO is front-wheel-drive only and not designed as a hardcore off-roader, it does provide an advanced suspension system with independent MacPherson strut suspension up front and a more rudimentary twist beam semi-independent arrangement at the rear. Mahindra has also fitted the compact SUV with 201 mm of ground clearance, hill-hold and hill-descent control, all-wheel disc brakes, and new-generation electronic stability control. These features offer confident handling on rough roads and mild trails.

The XUV 300 was already a 5-star rated safe car, earning top ratings in adult safety and strong child protection in its time. The XUV 3XO builds upon that foundation, matching its predecessor’s high safety rating while offering a rich suite of modern safety technologies, including level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, 3-point seat belts for all seats, all-disc brakes, and electronic stability control. This makes the 3XO measurably safer overall compared to its predecessor, especially in terms of day-to-day driver assistance and passive protection enhancements.

The Mahindra XUV 3X0 is available in five model grades: MX2, MX3, AX5, AX5L, and AX7L. The MX2 and MX3 serve as value-focused options offering manual and automatic transmissions with essential comfort and safety features, including six airbags and ESC. The AX5 and AX5L introduce more comfort and technology enhancements, with the AX5L adding Level-2 ADAS and a 360° camera. The top-tier AX7L stands out with premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio, front LED fog lights, front park assist, leatherette door and dashboard trim, leatherette seats, 65W USB-C fast charging, and a cooled glove compartment with ambient lighting. All variants share the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 82 kW and 200 Nm of torque.

All XUV 3XO models are front-wheel-drive, offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed AISIN torque-converter automatic transmissions.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO comes standard with a five-year/150,000 km warranty and a three-year/ 55,000 km service plan. Buyers who choose an AX variant benefit from an extended five-year/ 100,000 km service plan.

The XUV 3XO adopts a sharper, more distinctive design with a triangular grille, boomerang LED DRLs, LED projector headlights, connected LED tail-lamps, and 17-inch diamond-cut alloys on higher trim. Inside, it introduces larger HD screens, leatherette trim, a panoramic sky-roof, Harman Kardon audio, and modern wireless tech. All this, along with its advanced tech and driver assistance systems, represents a substantial leap in quality, safety, and comfort over the XUV 300. It’s no wonder it earned the ‘People’s Choice’ title at the 2025 Old Mutual Insure South African Car of the Year (COTY) Awards.
